RMU Data Dialogue

The RMU Data Dialogue is a format and platform for sharing and discussing data-related topics, dedicated to fostering critical and creative perspectives on data visualization, algorithmic practices, and digital infrastructures. Its focus is on visualizing data as critical practice — using visualization not merely to display information, but to interrogate, disrupt, and reimagine how data constructs realities.

The programme addresses data ethics, algorithmic bias, visualization politics, digital surveillance, and data justice through hands-on workshops, exploration groups, and inputs from international experts, inviting participants to experiment with critical, artistic, and speculative visualization techniques.

The Data Dialogue welcomes emerging researchers from the educational and social sciences, the arts, and computational fields, as well as creative technologists, data journalists, designers, and policymakers who critically engage with the social, cultural, and political implications of visualization.

The 2026 edition takes place 9–11 December at Goethe University Frankfurt, hosted by the Center for Critical Computational Studies (C3S) and organized through the Rhine-Main Universities (RMU) strategic alliance.
